Yoga, Tea and Conversation under the Sakura

12 Kimiko & Asami (2).png

Sakura means cherry blossoms, and there is a centuries old tradition called "hanami" to drink under a blossoming cherry or ume (plum) tree. We invite you to brew your favourite tea and join us for ritual to honour Asami and Kimiko’s Japanese heritage. Together they’ll discuss the cultural sentiment of “mono no aware,” the deep emotions one feels in regard to the beauty of impermanence, symbolized by the falling cherry blossoms, changes of the moon, the absence of love ones, and how that can relate to one’s yoga practice.

The new moon in Taurus is a perfect time to journey inward into the body of sensations, and feel the transitions of each breath with yin yoga. Together we’ll learn how to slow down with mindfulness and witness the fleeting moments of joy, wonder, longing, and sadness that can happen simultaneously. Following quiet stillness and reflection, we’ll channel a Kundalini mantra meditation that will awaken the beauty of blossoming flowers in your heart to empower our collective intentions for next moon cycle.

We’ll close with storytelling from both Asami and Kimiko’s over tea and open conversation. Please bring a cup of tea warm or cold, or your favourite beverage, and we’ll sit, share, and speak about these transformative times of Asian awareness and advocacy from personal experiences and perspectives.
